Prof. Dr. Dr. Ernst-G√ľnter Afting

Professor Afting was President of Munich based "National Research Centre for Environment and Health" (GSF), a governmental science research centre employing more than 1.600 scientists and staff until 2006.

Between 1993 and 1995, he was President and CEO of Roussel Uclaf in Paris. Professor Afting had previously held various positions with Hoechst AG since 1984.

Among others, he was member of the board of Behring-Werke, Marburg from 1984 to 1989; Head of worldwide Pharma Research of Hoechst AG from 1989 to 1991; Head of the Pharmaceutical Division of the Hoechst Group and Chairman of the Divisional Pharmaceutical Board from 1991 to 1993.

He was a member of the Advisory Committee on Science and Technology to the German Chancellor Kohl from 1996 to 1997 and has been a Member of the Natinonal Advisory Committee on Health Research to the State Secretaries of Science / Technology and Health since 1996.

Prof. Afting serves on several boards of entrepreneurial biotechnology companies.
